Great cardio boxing workout! August 25, 2010 JGN (TX) When I first played this game, I was feeling neutral towards it because I was a little awkward learning the moves and getting the rhythm right. At that point it just wasn't fun, yet. After getting bored with my other Wii workouts and getting into a slump, I decided to give this another try. I am so glad that I did. After getting past the initial learning phase, this can be a full-blast, high-intensity workout without even knowing it. In order for the punches to register properly, you have to really give a good solid punch. This is great for blowing off some steam. After each of my workouts, I can tell it was good because my muscles are sufficiently fatigued and I'm feeling it the next day. I've never had so much fun working out so hard on a Wii game. It now gets 5-stars from me, it just took a little time.
Who knew I could box? August 23, 2010 P. Bye-Erts (NJ/USA) As an overweight, 42 year old woman, I bought this game with a mixture of curiosity and dread. Boy, am I glad that I did! This is seriously fun, and after 1 month, I am developing arm and other muscles that I only dreamed about. My only complaint is the muzak music which is randomly annoying. I turn the volume down and listen to my iPod instead :-)
The game begins with a complete review of all of the punches and necessary steps to safely throw them. Who knew that I have a devastating left hook, lol? You can either miss the punch, earn a Good score or an Excellent score. You can choose to make your own workout, or choose one already made up. As you build up points, you unlock new exercises and also earn money to spend on new outfits in the game shop. I could care less about the outfits, but enjoy the new exercises.
One thing that I never expected from this Wii game is how good it can feel to punch..... just imagine the jerk who bothered you at work that day and give him a firm right upper, lol.
This workout gets you moving, burns a decent amount of calories, and I feel better about myself knowing that I can beat up any other Mii out there :-)
This is great August 21, 2010 Me I am a 29 year old woman who runs 4 miles a day and does a martial arts twice a week. On top of that I get up in the morning and do this for an hour every day before work. I LOVE IT!
I don't have the wii balance board so have no idea what workouts you can do with it but I do the rest. I do the running section while I am on the treadmill as I find that when you have to puch out the bear it breaks up the monotiny of the work out. The section on dodging the fist is great for stomach muscles when done properly. Also when done correctly the punch workouts will definately make you sweat and ache.
If you want a something that will make you sweat, make you ache then this is it. But you have to do it correctly if you want to make a difference otherwise it will just be another workout that gets put to the back collecting dust because "it doesn't do anything"
This is really just boxing! August 20, 2010 SCS 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just a head's up to shoppers, this is mostly cardio boxing! There are some other exercises to help with your boxing training (sit ups, push ups, some boxing like games, etc), but really it's all about boxing. Now, if you're into boxing, this could be a great workout and I think I learned a good bit about boxing (uppercuts, etc) but I was hoping for a more balanced cardio workout. Wish they would have described it a little more accurately!
great workout August 2, 2010 Mariann P. McGroarty Surprisingly, this is a great workout, once you get past the beginner phases. I'm no stranger to working out and this still gave me a sense of accomplishment after doing all of the bobbing and weaving and punching.
